This peony pattern is from the Japonism style that influenced people like Frank Lloyd Wright. The style was derived from seeing the world from an opposite viewpoint of the west. This wallpaper was first printed in the 19th Century but enjoyed resurgences in the 1920's, 50's and is currently popular again. The pattern also has a vintage Hawaiian feel.
